Openshot exporting whithout sound? Try this fix

OpenshotBecause of a bug, in Ubuntu 14.10 (maybe also in Ubuntu 14.04, but I never tested it), Openshot could export your video without sound. This is a known issue, caused by the mlt package. This is already fixed in Debian but, incomprehensibly, not yet in Ubuntu. While we wait the fix into the Ubuntu repository, if you need a quick fix, you can add the kdenlive ppa, with the last mlt update. For doing this, open a terminal and put:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:sunab/kdenlive-release
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

After this, you will have solved the problem and Openshot will rightly export your video, including sound.

Still not working for me :/

Did you try to close Openshot and re-open it? Did you refresh the codec list from the program settings?

Yeah I tried restarting the program and I installed Kdenlive afterwards and that had the same issue. However after a reboot the sound was working in both :)

Sorry, I’ve seen your message only now. It seems like you have no trouble now, but if I’m wrong, write me and I will try to help you.
I solved my problem in this way, under Ubuntu 14.10. I rarely use Openshot, but if I can help, it’s a pleasure. :)

This was working in 14.04, so appears to be a regression in 14.10. The ppa upgrade worked for me, and I think I’ll also switch to Kdenlive for my basic editing needs. Having the audio profile visible on the video clips is a huge time saver.
